Davide Giovannini was born in Italy and now lives in London. His search to explore various styles of drumming led him to Brazil where he studied Latin rhythms. He has performed alongside Brazilian greats Toninho Horta, Marcos Valle and Bebel Gilberto and also Afro-Cuban masters including Cubanismo, Herman Olivera, Pucho and The Soul Brothers.
Recent collaborations include working with Snowboy, Alex Wilson, Jazztronik, Negrocan, Dalata, Smoke City, Mano Ventura, Steve Williamson, Cleveland Watkiss and Robert Miles.
Davide’s more recent jazz interest has led him to perform with Jim Mullen, Bobby Watson, John Scofield, Roy Hargrove, Rudi Berger and also Marlena Shaw, Roy Ayers, Russell Watson, Vanessa Haynes, Martha Lewis and many more.
In 2012 his explorations of Indian rhythms with tabla player Kuljit Bhamra culminated in the release of their 2018 album Spiders Tango with the Villiers String Quartet.
