Inspired to take up the violin by his musical father Raghbir Singh, Kamalbir continued his training under the guidance of Ustad Nazar Hussain, and Pandit Ram Narayan (the world famous sarangi player).

Kamalbir was awarded the All India Radio Gold Medal for coming first throughout India in the bowed instruments category.

Greatly in demand as an accompanist – as well as a soloist, Kamalbir is also a talented vocalist and regularly performs Ghazals (poetic love songs) at concerts and events.
