Shahin Badar was born in Colchester, Essex, England to a Bangladeshi father and Indian mother. She spent her formative years growing up in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
Her innovative musical collaborations have seen her team up with respected mainstream and Asian producers such as A.R Rahman and electronic big beat giants The Prodigy for whom she appeared on three No.1 albums.
Smack My Bitch Up headlined the multi-million selling Fat Of The Land album, which entered the Billboard charts at number one, and the Guinness Book of records in 1999 as the fastest selling UK album. As a result, Shahin was awarded a Double Platinum.
Her Distinctive Indo-Arabic chants have become known worldwide, and have featured in the world’s most popular mixed martial sport Ultimate Fighting Championships. Shahin also made an enchanting vocal appearance on the tv advert for Scottish Widows.
Her collaboration with dance maestro Tim Deluxe on the single Mundaya resulted in it being chosen as ‘essential tune of the week’ by Radio1 DJ Pete Tong.
Shahin’s voice appears on over thirty soundtracks including academy-nominated movie Closer, Charlie’s Angels and US sitcom series North Shore. She also appears in the soundtrack of Shyam Bengal’s Bollywood blockbuster Zubeidaa.
Performing regularly on the international stage, Shahin’s highlights include supporting the phenomenal 50 Cent in Lebanon with award-winning producer Guy Manoukian at The Biel. She later performed in Germany alongside the chart-topping Turkish artist Mercan Dede.
